Families

“As the world continues to watch us, let us be certain that our example will sustain and support the plan the Lord has designed for His children here in mortality. The greatest teaching of all must be done by righteous example. Our homes must be holy places in order to stand against the pressures of the world. Remember that the greatest of all the blessings of the Lord come through and are given to righteous families.”
Elder L. Tom Perry, “Finding Lasting Peace and Building Eternal Families”, October 2014

“It is my firm conviction that there has never been a period in my many years of life when our Father in Heaven’s children have needed the guiding hand of faithful, devoted parents more. We have a great and noble heritage of parents giving up almost everything they possess to find a place where they could rear their families with faith and courage so the next generation would have greater opportunities than had been theirs. We must find within ourselves that same determined spirit and overcome the challenges we face with the same spirit of sacrifice. We must instill in future generations an ever stronger reliance on the teachings of our Lord and Savior.”
Elder L. Tom Perry, “Finding Lasting Peace and Building Eternal Families”, October 2014

"Today I call upon members of the Church and on committed parents, grandparents, and extended family members everywhere to hold fast to this great proclamation, to make it a banner not unlike General Moroni’s “title of liberty,” and to commit ourselves to live by its precepts. As we are all part of a family, the proclamation applies to everyone."
Elder M. Russel Ballard, “What matters most is what lasts longest” October 2005

"Our family-centered perspective should make Latter-day Saints strive to be the best parents in the world. It should give us enormous respect for our children, who truly are our spiritual siblings, and it should cause us to devote whatever time is necessary to strengthen our families. Indeed, nothing is more critically connected to happiness—both our own and that of our children—than how well we love and support one another within the family."
Elder M. Russel Ballard, “What matters most is what lasts longest” October 2005

"The most important setting to forgo contention and practice respect for differences is in our homes and family relationships. Differences are inevitable—some minor and some major. As to major differences, suppose a family member is in a cohabitation relationship. That brings two important values into conflict—our love for the family member and our commitment to the commandments. Following the Savior’s example, we can show loving-kindness and still be firm in the truth by forgoing actions that facilitate or seem to condone what we know to be wrong."
Elder Oaks, “Loving others and living with differences” October 2014

"Our heavenly father and his beloved son are creators and have entrusted each of us with a portion of their creative power."
Elder David A. Bednar “We Believe in being chaste”

"One of the greatest blessings we can offer to the world is the power of a Christ-centered home where the gospel is taught, covenants are kept, and love abounds."
Elder Richard G. Scott “For peace at home”

“How we preserve time for family is one of the most significant issues we face in most cultures.”            Elder Quentin L. Cook, "Lamentations of Jeremiah: Beware of Bondage."

“Each family prayer, each episode of family scripture study, and each family home evening is a brushstroke on the canvas of our souls.”
Elder David A. Bednar, "More Diligent and Concerned at Home."

“In family relationships love is really spelled t-i-m-e, time."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Of Things That Matter Most."

Position Statement
God sent us to this earth to find joy! For me, nothing brings me so much joy as my family does. In today's society, there is not enough emphasis on the importance of family. The home is where everything starts! It's where a child learns her first word, where he first learns to crawl, where she takes that first step, how to talk, how to interact with others, how to pray, how to laugh, how to play, how to LIVE! That is why it is so important to have Jesus Christ and his teachings as the center of our families. Then our children will learn how to be the best person that they can be. They will be better citizens, friends, daughters, sons, students, mothers and fathers. One of the most important things that I know is that I will be with my family for all time and eternity. We have been sealed here on earth so that we can be together for always. No matter what happens here on this earth, no matter what anyone says, no matter what challenges we face, we will have each other forever. THAT is my happily ever after.
